Welcome to the Aylsham Food Festival Website!

Organised by Slow Food Aylsham, the Aylsham Food Festival 2009 will run on Saturday and Sunday 3 & 4 October, and this year is linked to the EDP Bidwells Norfolk Food Festival.  Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, Aylsham High School has reluctantly taken the decision to cancel the Friday night dinner.  All those who had reserved tickets have been contacted separately.
We look forward to seeing you in Aylsham!

A local school joined  in the pre-Festival activities ...........
As part of British Food Fortnight and the Norfolk Food Festival, local chef David Tortice spent 2 mornings with pupils from Colby Primary School making smoothies, salads, and cooking plums picked from the school garden - all part of making the children aware of local food - and British food in general.

Slow Food - the organisation .....

Slow Food began in Italy, in 1986 ... Carlo Petrini, an Italian journalist, was horrified to find a MacDonald's on the Spanish Steps in Rome.  The concept of "fast food" goes against the Italian culture of good food, lovingly cooked, and eaten in the company of friends.  Hence the tongue in cheek name of "Slow Food" - from this, the movement has grown worldwide to a membership of over 100,000.
